Even the best-laid plans do not turn out like you expect. You can take all the safety precautions and emergencies still happen. When they happen to your eyes, call Willoughby Doctors of Optometry first.
Calling our clinic is your best first step. We can help walk you through these at-home treatments to best prevent permanent damage. If it is outside our office hours, follow these instructions before heading to an emergency facility in your area.
If you have something stuck in your eye, do not attempt to pull it out with your hands. Flush your eye out with water to dislodge it. If it does not budge, it is time to trust the professionals. Do not try to use tweezers or pliers to remove a foreign object stuck in your eye.
If you have splashed or sprayed a chemical substance into your eyes, it is important to act fast. As quickly as possible, begin flushing your eye with water and continue to do so for 15 full minutes. Do not stop when your eye feels better, continue to rinse your eyes for 15 minutes before seeking medical attention at an emergency facility.
We would love to meet you in person.
