Your family comes first. We take great pride in the role we play in your child’s school performance, athletic development, and overall health. When you bring your family to visit our clinic, we make every effort to ensure your children feel comfortable and relaxed throughout their eye appointment. Our exams are non-invasive and, according to the youngsters who visit us, “pretty cool” After their first visit, kids are often excited for their next exam.
The Canadian Association of Optometrists suggests everyone have their eyes checked once a year, starting at six months of age and annually after that. At Willoughby Doctors of Optometry, we could not agree more! In these early months, children are developing important hand-eye coordination, eye teaming, and movement control. At these early stages it is vital to have your infant’s eyes examined to ensure they are progressing as they should be.
Annual eye exams are crucial for children in school. Through elementary school, junior high, and high school, the majority of learning is based on vision. Kids need to be able to comfortably see the board, read books, look at a computer monitor, and see their teacher. If they are in need of vision correction they could instead experience headaches, stress, and lower academic performance. In the long term, these are the students who fall behind scholastically or become disciplinary problems.
We know that glasses are about more than perfect vision. They are also a way to share your personality and style with the world. Our team of eye care professionals is always here to help you choose frames and sunglasses that fit your face lifestyle and your wardrobe. Our experts can aid you in finding the right safety eyewear or contacts, too. Start your search online here.
